Our flight today from Santiago, Chile to Mendoza,
Argentina leaves at 3:30 pm.
Since it
is an international flight we are to be at the airport 3 hours ahead of the
flight.
As expected since we went to bed
so late, we slept in until 9:00/9:30.
After breakfast we packed our stuff and began the trip to the
airport.
On the way we made a detour to
the top of a mountain in Santiago City, to have a closer look at the statue of
the Virgin which overlooks the City of Santiago.

Today was basically spent in-transit.
The short flight to Mendoza, Argentina went
well.
Mendoza airport is very
small.
We had to walk from the plane to
the terminal.
We picked up the rental
car and drove to the hotel as it was already 5:30 pm.
The city of Mendoza is in the Province of
Mendoza.
Mendoza is the chief wine producing area of
Argentina.
We could see many vineyards
as we flew into the airport.
We are in a hotel in downtown Mendoza – Altezza
Apart Suites. Thank goodness we had a good map.
The street signs and one-way streets are well marked, so that we drove
directly here.
Parking for the hotel is
underground and secured.
Our room is
large, with a kitchenette - very comfortable.

For dinner we ate at an Italian Restaurant, which
did not open until 8:00 pm.
Another
couple and we were there at 8:00! Even though we didn’t do much today, we were
tired.
Tomorrow we will drive out into
the country, as tomorrow night we are staying at a vineyard about an hour and a
half south of Mendoza.
