Thursday, September 14, 2017 McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge (south of Denali on Parks Highway to pull-off in Glennallen, AK.

As we expected, it was still raining this morning!  It had rained all night and the 5- day forecast is for rain, which of course translates into not having clear skies to see the mountains.  What a bummer, now what do we do?

There is a large weather system hanging over southwest Alaska. To give us time, to make a decision, we drove south into Wasilla, where we had the oil changed in the vehicle.  We also went to the Iditarod museum nearby in Wasilla.  We finally decided since it was clear to the east, we are going to Valdez.  We would drove the Glenn Highway toward Glennallen.  Before we left Wasilla, the clouds to the east were already beginning to clear.  The Glenn highway was a beautiful drive.

Cal mentioned today that all we are doing is posting scenery photos.  Yes, that is primarily what Alaska is all about – scenery! Here again today, we saw some beautiful spots. We just keep taking photos!  Today we saw snowcapped mountains, more bright golden trees, plus several glaciers.

We made it the whole way to Glennallen. Tomorrow we will go south to Valdez.

We are sleeping in the Acadia tonight. There is a motel here in Glennallen, but not at all worth the money.  We are comfortable in the vehicle.   This evening we ate at the restaurant in town, and will have breakfast there in the morning.
