Tuesday,
September 5, 2017 – Stewart to Boya Lake, BC.
After a huge
BC/Alaska Breakfast – miners breakfast, we drove 37km up mountain passes to the
top of Salmon Glacier. As I said before,
we had seen it in 1999, and Salmon Glacier was as awesome as then. After photos from every angle including
panoramas we began our drive back to Stewart.
So many of these Coastal Mountains have glaciers, which are creating
many waterfalls. If you had your car
windows open, you could hear water running/falling at every corner. Some of the falls you could see others you
could only hear.

Back in
Stewart after getting another cup of coffee we drove back to the Cassiar
Hwy. On the way, we stopped to take
morning-time photos of Bear Glacier, which we had seen late yesterday when it
was in the shadow of the mountain. Both
Bear and Salmon are impressive. It is worth the side trip off the Cassiar.

It was noon
before we were on the road driving north again. We continued the long drove
north through forest of pine trees, along many beautiful lakes, and mountains,
but we saw no wildlife except a frighten chipmunk, and birds – ie, moose, bear,
caribou, or elk.
It is a
beautiful drive. We are beginning to
enjoy the fall colors. The yellows are
getting stronger, and it made a difference as to the elevation. The fireweed plant is turning a deep
red. Fireweeds are the first to grow
after an area has been disturbed.

Services are
extremely limited along this route, so you watch your gas, and have along
whatever else you may need. In Stewart
while talking to the waitress last night she said that they go 2 ½ for
shopping. She buys enough staples for 1
year!!
Tonight, we
pulled into a beautiful campground along Boya Lake. We have a lake side site. You will see our view from the photos.
